HIROOMI ITO
Born in 1970 in Tokyo (Japan), he is a visual artist who works within the Japanese tradition of *nihonga*, creating his own surfaces and pigments using materials such as *washi* paper, roasted tea, and wheat starch. His work integrates elements of Japanese culture — such as tattoo art, gastronomy, and everyday rituals — with a critical reflection on identity, tradition, and the present.
Ito approaches every phase of the process as a craft act, from preparing the support to mixing the pigments, giving each piece an intimate and symbolic dimension. This way of creating, grounded in complete control over materials and discourse, aligns with the spirit of P(ART), which celebrates authenticity and authorship in all its forms.
